A surber is a type of net used to sample for specific macrobenthos in flowing water such as streams or rivers. Here’s a brand-new scaled-down surber that doesn’t scale down quality. Featuring the same stainless steel frame, 500 micron Nitex® bolt cloth net, and taffeta wings of our larger surbers, this sampler has a net 11” long and a sampling area of 1/4 square foot. While the size and price make it ideal for student studies, it is also useful for sampling small rivulets and intermittent streams. Avoid still water, fast current and streams deeper than 6”. |
